My great grandma was born in England 1926. She married my great grandad who was in the army. They were sent to a number of countries where they would live for a few years at a time. My great grandpa's brother was in the merchant navy so had also been traveling around the world. When he retired he decided to move to new zealand so when my great grandad retired from the army. They too decided to stay in New zealand and stayed for good.

One reason why my great grandma left england Is because at the time her husband was in the army. She wouldn’t really get to see him very often because he would be traveling around the world quite often . When they would see eachother it would be when he has a break. So then they thought about where they would like to retire to when he left the army.

My great grandads brother told him how beautiful new zealand was and the many opportunities it had there. And so in 1962 they made the decision to move to new zealand. My great nan found the move quite hard because she was the eldest of seven children. She was the only member of the family to move away.so she was very home sick when she was in new zealand.

When my great grandad retired from the british army he didn't want to settle back in England. So he talked my great naan into going to new zealand to settle down where his brother was living on the north shore of Auckland. At times while my naan is in auckland her three sisters and her mother would come down to new Zealand to holiday with my naan at various times. My great nan returned to England several times to visit her family but my great granddad never wanted to go back because he was so happy here.

They chose to come to New Zealand with their two sons because they thought there were better opportunities here in New Zealand.

CONCLUSION

So in conclusion although my great naan never wanted to leave her family and come to new Zealand it worked out pretty well for them in both business leisure activities making new friends and having more family. Because if they hadn't moved to new Zealand my granddad wouldn't have met my naan he wouldn't have had my dad who then wouldn't have had me.
