While attending the University of Kansas, I have worked part-time at Worldwide Innovations & Technologies (WIT) for a little under three years now. Originally founded in 1992, WIT is located in Lenexa, Kansas where we sell medical products in the radiation protection field; also known as RADPAD® Shields. At WIT I have work in the marketing department with analytical data and the entire salesforce. I began my employment as an intern where I used my social networking skills to create a LinkedIn page. By researching clinical trials about the efficacy of RADPAD shields, posting those trials to the profile, and expanding our network by connecting with industry stakeholders, I developed a widely useful reference page for the company.
Following this successful venture, I received tasks to do so on other social networking pages, Facebook and Twitter.
The summer I spent as an intern provided me with a lot of knowledge. Specifically the framework, organizational structure, and day-to-day functions of a business.
Researching, summarizing, and providing relevant articles for stakeholders within the medical industry that use minimally invasive techniques during daily practice is something that I never thought I would be doing; yet I thoroughly enjoy it.
The opportunity to work for WIT part-time through the semester has allowed me to strengthen my time-management skills, organization skills, and raise my overall GPA. Working for them strives me to achieve educational goals I never thought imaginable.
