内容：Who Benefits from FDS? 

概要：On-demand food delivery reshapes urban restaurant access through added convenience, including more ordering options and an expanded spatial reach. We examine whether this primarily benefits suburbanites by accessing distant central restaurants (potentially reducing spatial disparity) or central residents by leveraging high local density for greater convenience and further expanded choice. Analyzing granular restaurant and delivery data, we find that delivery disproportionately advantages residents in dense, central, often higher-income areas. This centralizing outcome is driven by limited delivery radii (~3-4km) curtailing suburban benefits, high central restaurant density maximizing convenience gains, and monocentricity amplifying accessibility expansion for central locations. Our findings indicate food delivery technology may reinforce, rather than mitigate, existing spatial inequalities in amenity access.

内容：Exports, Trade Hubs, and Urban-Rural Inequality: Global Evidence from Nighttime Luminosity 

概要：This study examines the effect of exports on subnational income and regional inequality between trade hub areas and non-trade areas, using nighttime satellite data of both as a proxy for income, and the difference in lights between trade hub areas and non-trade areas as a proxy for regional inequality. We utilize data from 104 non-landlocked countries over a 29-year period from 1997 to 2020. Within each country, a trade hub area is defined as a 30-kilometre radius surrounding the three major ports that facilitate exports through sea shipment and the three international airports that facilitate exports through air cargo. The remaining area of the country are classified as non-trade hub area. In this study, we employ a time-varying instrument: predicted trade obtained from a gravity equation. The gravity equation incorporates both sea distance and air distance. The instrument captures reductions in transportation costs due to improvements in transportation technology and a relative shift of exports from sea shipment to air cargo.The results show that a one percent increase in exports raises the lights of trade hub areas and non-trade hub areas by 0.3 percent and 0.06 percent, respectively. The results also suggest that exports contribute to increasing the population of trade hub areas. Furthermore, we find that a one percent increase in exports raises lights per capita in trade hub areas and non-trade hub areas by 0.18 percent and 0.06 percent, respectively. Finally, we find that a one percent increase in exports increases the difference in lights between trade hub areas and non-trade hub areas by 0.23 percent, which implies regional inequality.

内容：Global Policy Spillovers: Evidence from the Multinational Automobile Industry 

概要：In the globalized economy, a country's domestic policy can produce global spillover effects through products manufactured by multinational firms. We investigate this phenomenon in the context of environmental policies for automobiles. First, we empirically show that Japan’s fuel economy subsidy led to improvements in fuel economy for cars sold in the U.S. market. Second, using a structural model of differentiated product markets, we demonstrate that cross-market links in revenues and costs could highlight the potential mechanism behind the global spillovers. Finally, we use the estimated model to conduct counterfactual policy simulations, quantifying the welfare effects of the global policy spillovers.
