Gear Library

We get it. Buying all the gear you need for bikepacking can feel daunting, confusing, and expensive. We're big believers in making use of what you already have, but sometimes you simply don't have the essentials to get started. 

That's why we've partnered with Lake Orion Bike & Adventure to create a community gear library: a simple way to borrow the gear you need and try bikepacking without the big upfront investment.

So you wanna give bikepacking a try? Well now you can, with access to the essential gear to help you get rolling.

How does a gear library work?

Just like a regular library, you’ll check out gear the same way you check out a book. 

Gear will be stored at Lake Orion Bike & Adventure. You’ll provide a few basic details, borrow the gear for an agreed period, and return it when you’re done.

We’ll also be building an online inventory so you can see what’s available before you borrow.

What kind of stuff will the gear library have?

We’re starting with the essentials:

• tents

• sleep systems (sleeping bag, sleep pad, pillow)

• bike bags

• racks

• straps

As the library grows, we’ll expand based on what riders need most.

How can I support the gear library?

We're so glad you asked! Two ways:

1. Donate Gear. Have camping or bikepacking gear you’re no longer using? We’d love to give it a second life helping someone start their first adventure. Drop gear off at Lake Orion Bike & Adventure or email us at 123wanderwheels@gmail.com to arrange pickup.

2. Donate $$$. We've started a GoFundMe to raise money to purchase gear for the library. 100% of donations will go to buying gear.

Our goal is simple: make it easy for more people to experience the joy of bikepacking.
