The lesson plan below was created for my 5th Grade ENL class. The lesson was on converting customary units of capacity. I utilized the story of "King Gallon" to help students understand the different customary units of capacity. I created all differentiated materials and slide associated with this lesson (except the video).
I created this scaffold to help students remember the story of King Gallon and how the customary units of capacity are related to one another. I differentiated by language and used laminate to make the scaffold see-through so that students could layer each sheet. This scaffold was available at each station so students could reference as needed.
I created this scaffold to be used at each station as a reference to help them with their conversions. I differentiated based on language of home languages used in our classroom.
I created this vocabulary chart for each station as a reference for students during their activities. I differentiated based on home languages and added pictures to add a visual component to the vocabulary word.
This activity is based on the game "Heads Up." I created differentiated vocabulary word cards based on home languages. Cut up the vocabulary chart and placed them on binder clips so students could use the chart pieces to help them with their clues.
