I developed this K-2, 12:1:1, Math Lesson by first analyzing the IEP goals for the students in the room and then collaborating with my cooperating teacher on identifying the skill levels of the room. The summer curriculum was designed around the Summer Olympics, so I incoporated that theme into my lesson.
I created two of these interactive "score" boards to assist with small group learning. I made gold medal manipulatives that can be velcroed to the bored to assist with visually representing quantities of numbers. I made light-weight "whiteboards" using white paper and laminate, so we can write and erase easily.
I made 10 bags of 20 gold medal manipulatives to help students identify quanties of numbers. I also provided dual-sided number lines that students could use to help them solve small addition problems. A whiteboard and dry erase marker were also provided, so students could work out small addition problems.
I created this gold medal matching number line for one of the students who is non-verbal and struggles with writing. He worked with his paraprofessional to identify and match the numbers.
