National Geographic - Photo Ark
Joel Sartore, a National Geographic photographer and conservationist, wants everyone to think about the serious consequences of species extinction. Use the resources on this page to teach about the amazing animals in the Photo Ark, highlight the importance of storytelling in conservation, and empower students to spread the word about species extinction.
What is ReWilding?
The ReWilding the Earth Mission:
To develop and promote the ideas and strategies to advance continental-scale conservation in North America and beyond, particularly the need for large carnivores and a permeable landscape for their movement, and to offer a bold, scientifically-credible, practically achievable, and hopeful vision for the future of wild Nature and human civilization.
Project WILD
by Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies
America’s fish and wildlife belong to all of us. Conserving and preventing the exploitation of these vital resources—on both public and private lands and waters within our borders—is critical to the well-being of our nation and beyond.
Project WILD's mission is to provide wildlife-based conservation and environmental education that fosters responsible actions toward wildlife and related natural resources. All curriculum materials are backed by sound educational practices and theory, and represent the work of many professionals within the fields of education and natural resource management from across the country.
Project Learning Tree
Project Learning Tree® (PLT) is an award-winning environmental education program designed for teachers and other educators, parents, and community leaders working with youth from preschool through grade 12. PLT is an initiative of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative.
To help achieve PLT’s goal, we:
Provide students with the awareness, appreciation, skills, and commitment to address environmental issues.
Enable students to apply scientific processes and higher order thinking skills to resolve environmental problems.
Help students acquire an appreciation for and tolerance of diverse viewpoints on environmental issues and develop attitudes and actions based on analysis and evaluation of the available information.
Public Broadcasting Stations and The Nature Conservancy - Nature Lab
Nature is the fantastic factory that makes the building blocks of all our lives—food, drinking water, the stuff we own, and the air we breathe. That’s why The Nature Conservancy and its 550 scientists have created Nature Lab—to help students learn the science behind how nature works for us and how we can help keep it running strong.
