For foreign participants

You are responsible for all travel arrangements to Malaysia, including procurement of a visa if necessary.

Traveling to CEMACS

CEMACS is in an isolated location, accessible only by boat. The workshop organizers strongly advise all participants, foreign and domestic, to travel together in a single group.  See designated meeting location below.

The destination airport is Penang International Airport. For participants flying into Kuala Lumpur, connecting flights from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA1 or KLIA2) to Penang International Airport are readily available. KLIA1 handles most full-service international and domestic flights, while KLIA2 is the hub for low-cost carriers. Both terminals offer frequent domestic flights to Penang, typically taking about 1 hour. Participants arriving via international flights at either terminal can easily transfer to a domestic flight to Penang. It is recommended to allow at least 2-3 hours for connecting flights between terminals.

Airport transfer to the designated meeting location for this workshop will NOT be arranged. Boat transfer to and from CEMACS will be arranged.

You have several options of public transportation in Penang: Bus (Rapid Penang), Taxi, or E-hailing service - Grab (no Uber in Malaysia)

Designated meeting location

Please plan your travel so that we all meet on 2 August 2025 at 15:00 (3:00pm) in the lobby of the Angsana Hotel, Teluk Bahang in Penang.

(It is approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour by car from the Penang Airport to Angsana Hotel)

We will take a short boat ride to the centre (approximately 10 minutes), as the centre is only accessible via boat.  

Airport transfer to the designated meeting location will NOT be arranged. 

The boat transfer will be arranged. Please do not be late!!!

Departing CEMACS 

The boat transfer will be arranged.

We will arrive on 9 August 2025 at 10:30 (10:30am) back at Angsana Hotel, Teluk Bahang  for you to depart. 

Airport transfer will NOT be arranged.
