In cooperation with Norton University, we carried the survey of timber houses at villages around Sambor Prei Kuk monuments. Due to the rapid urbanization and modernization, traditional timber buildings in Asia are gradually disappearing. Against this backdrop, our research objective is to estimate the possibilities of “computational design” and “digital fabrication” to revitalize timber houses in the villages. These digital solutions have the potential to be the new tools for generating income livelihoods and income streams. We believe our approach to utilize “personal technologies” will integrate tradition and modern technique, and contribute to create affordable and sustainable built-environment in the villages.
