ACCESSIBILITY PAGE
By making your website more accessible, you are giving the opportunity to more people to access your content, especially the ones with some exceptionality. It is part of our job as educators to "make content more accessible to students" (Marino, 2023, slide 5).
Here are some tools I used, to make this page more accessible:
Having a high colour contrast in your website makes images and text easier to see and understand (Marino, 2023).
I tried to keep the colour palette very simple in this E-portfolio, with plain backgrounds and four colours that would make for a good contrast between them.
I ensured this page was accessible by using a Sans Serif Font to maximize readability; I also used a 16pt size for the body text and lastly, I decided use left-alignment to make the text easier to read.
Headings are a great way to organize information throughout your website. It allows for screen readers to find this information more efficiently (Marino, 2023).
You can find different types of headings in every page of this E-portfolio.
Alt Text are descriptions of an image to help visually impaired users. These descriptions need to be short, simple, and specific (Marino, 2023).
You can find Alt Text in the picture within this page.
Hyperlinks help people using screen readers access important information quick and easy. For these links to improve the usability of your website, they need to be descriptive (Marino, 2023).
I have different hyperlinks throughout my E-portfolio. These hyperlinks will take you to other websites, pages in specific or sections within the E-portfolio, for example: ABOUT ME
Just like headings and hyperlinks, bulleted lists allow for screen readers to find and understand the items of the list. For this to work, it is better to use the bulleted list feature in softwares, rather than typing it by yourself (Marino, 2023).
I have created different bulleted lists in this E-portfolio to show some of my skills, to talk about different tools I have used, or to enlist the different apps I have learned about in this Course.
