The Laboratory for Innovative Technologies in Rehabilitation was founded at Ariel University (Ariel, Israel) in 2015 by Dr. Michal Hochhauser. The lab’s focus is on the development and evaluation of novel virtual environments, computer interfaces, and wearable devices to explore their effect on motor and cognitive skills as well as everyday functions and participation in community life. Rehabilitation populations of interest include autism, developmental coordination disorder and attention deficit disorder.

The research is carried out within a multidisciplinary team in collaboration with researchers from several disciplines: occupational therapy, social welfare, education, and Industrial Engineering and Management at Ariel University and with Université Paris-Sud, France, affiliated with the LIMSI (www.limsi.fr), which is a multi-disciplinary institute hosting research in Computer Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Life Sciences and Social Sciences. In addition, we have collaborated with Pediatric Neurology Dept. in Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem and with the Ministry of Welfare.

The lab is directed by Dr. Michal Hochhauser, chair of the Occupational Therapy Dept. in Ariel University. She is an occupational therapist with an M.Sc and a Ph.D. degree in Occupational Therapy.
