Over the past few years since first ChatGPT was released, and later Gemini, I've been speaking (writing) to these tools, commonly known as AI, Artificial Intelligence, and using them for research and for discussions. Although Google calls Gemini, Google Gemini, I prefer to call Gemini, Gemini Google. People I know have given the AI tools they use pseudonyms, but I prefer to call Gemini "Gemini", or simply "G". I believe in something I call Collaborative Intelligence (CI) and I believe that AI would be better named Augmented Intelligence. An AI can be considered to be a very advanced search engine, and like a matriculant (school leaver) who gets 100%, that person looks like a genius, but might not understand how the world works, or might not understand how to think. An AI looks at the world's data in the form everything that is available online, and then makes tokenised summaries of that online content. When someone has a conversation with an AI, using "prompts" (to prompt answers from the AI), then the AI looks for similar patterns of tokens for answers related to the question, or to make summaries, or to make "sense" out of the data that the AI receives. I personally believe that AI is very far from sentience, and being more like humans, although AI behaves like humans and has already done both the good things and the bad things humans have done. So far the bad things have been stopped, using AI guardrails.
I like seeing what AI says in reply to my writing, and I share the non confidential questions and replies in my recent books on here and elsewhere.
In the text you will see sections starting with Me, and starting with Gemini. Me is me, David Lipschitz, and Gemini is Gemini Google, an AI.
