Upon arriving at the ATB, there will be signs directing you to the event. In particular, head through the main revolving doors, then up one flight of stairs (or lift) to your right and head along the bridge to the large seating area.
We expect the event to be entirely accessible and step-free, please contact us for more information.
For more information, please see the Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) website, or contact us.
We encourage all participants to think sustainably when travelling to this event.
The closest station to the Alan Turing Building is Manchester Oxford Road, though you will likely find it easier to travel to Manchester Piccadilly, which is a 10-15 minute walk (or a short 147 bus ride) from the University. Manchester Victoria is also a viable station, especially if arriving from the North, though it is slightly further away. It's worth noting that Manchester Piccadilly Rail Station and Manchester Piccadilly Bus Station are not the same place - they are a 7 minute walk apart!
Manchester has rather comprehensive public transport and driving is to be avoided in and around the city centre due to congestion. If you must drive, there are various car parks close to the University, including Manchester Aquatics Centre car park and Booth Street East car park.
The University is well-serviced by buses and many routes pass within a few minutes walk of the Alan Turing Building. In particular, the 15, 42, 43, 50, 142, 143 and 147 bus routes service both the city centre and the University. Manchester has a £2.00 single fare on the majority of buses (including the ones listed above), and you can pay by contactless card or via the Stagecoach app.
There are bikes (both pedal and e-bikes) for hire all around Manchester, see here for details.
Taxis are frequent - in particular Uber, Bolt and local companies are all in operation in the city.
Manchester is rather famous for its bright yellow trams - the closest tram stops to the University are Piccadilly (15 minute walk) or St. Peter's Square (20 minute walk). You can buy tickets on the platforms (but not on the tram itself) or tap-in and tap-out with a contactless card at readers on the platforms.
Manchester Airport is the largest UK airport outside London, with regular transport links to the city centre. After landing, follow signs for "The Station" and then either catch a train to Piccadilly or Oxford Road, a tram to St. Peter's Square, a taxi to the ATB or a 43 bus to the University.
