I am always happy to support my students with a letter of recommendation. I do, however, take this task very seriously. Because of this, I will only agree to write a letter for you if I feel that I know you enough to write a positive letter, and if you give me what I need to produce a good letter.
I will only write a letter for you if you;
Took at least one class with me (preferably two) within the last four (4) years;
Received at least a B grade;
Are asking at least two weeks before the deadline.
If any of the above points does not apply, I cannot promise that I will agree to write a letter for you. Under no circumstances will I agree to write a letter of recommendation if you contact me less than ten days before the letter is needed.
If I agree to write a letter for you, I will need the following:
A brief description of the job or program you're applying to, including the name (for instance, MS in x or elementary teacher in y);
An updated CV or résumé, and a copy of any materials (for instance, a final project you wrote for my class) that you'd like me to highlight in the letter;
Clear information about the deadline, who the letter should be addressed to, and how to submit it;
A reminder of the deadline at least 72 hours ahead of time.
