I am a historical sociolinguist working at the Department of Languages and Cultures at West Chester University, where I teach for the Linguistics and the Spanish programs at the undergraduate and graduate level. I currently also serve as the WCU Linguistics Program Director. My research focuses on the history of dialect and language contact in the Americas (with a focus on Spanish), including the United States. My contributions have appeared in several edited volumes and journals (e.g. Diachronica, Spanish in Context, Transactions of the Philological Society, Journal of Historical Linguistics, Journal of Historical Sociolinguistics). I recently (2025) published Spanish as a Contact Language with Edinburgh University Press. I am also one of the editors of the Journal of Historical Sociolinguistics, and a member of NARNiHS (North American Research Network in Historical Sociolinguistics) and HiSoN (Historical Sociolinguistics Network).
