Customers will soon have the option to reverse airtime mistakenly purchased via mobile money.
Option will be available on the Mobile money menu. Customers can follow steps below to reverse airtime to cash.
Reversal option is available when customer purchases for his number or for another number
AIRTIME REVERSAL FROM OWN NUMBER
Customer dials *170#
Select option 6 for My Wallet
Then Select option 6 for Airtime Reversal
Customer has the option to select the transaction he/she wants to reverse
Customer gets the option to Press 1 to confirm reversal or 2 to cancel
Once reversal is confirmed, customer receives notification below
‘You’ve successfully requested for Mobile Money airtime transfer reversal. You’ll be notified by sms on status shortly’
Sms will be sent to customer once airtime reversal is successful and the amount has been credited to the customer’s wallet
Note: Please note that customers will now be allowed to request for MoMo Airtime Reversal only once in a week
Customers will receive feedback below when they make attempt to reverse more than once within the same week

AIRTIME REVERSAL FROM ANOTHER NUMBER
Customer dials *170#
Select option 6 for My Wallet
Then Select 6 for Airtime Reversal
Customer gets the option to select the transaction he wants to reverse
Customer gets the option to Press 1 to confirm reversal or 2 to cancel
Once customer confirms he gets notification message below
‘You’ve successfully requested for Mobile Money airtime reversal. Kindly check with recipient xxxxxxxxxx for approval’
The recipient will also get notification below
‘Kindly approve the reversal of GHCXXX airtime transfer from xxxxxxxxxx on date. 1. Yes 2. Cancel’
The approval notification will be active for a min. The sender will have to initiate the reversal request again when it times out
When customer selects 1 for Yes, he will receive message below
‘You have successfully approved mobile money airtime reversal request from xxxxxxxxx’
Once approval is complete, airtime reversal is done and amount is credited to sender’s wallet.
Customer will get feedback below when reversal of less than 10ghc is initiated
“Sorry, the minimum amount for airtime reversal is 10ghc”
T&C for MTN Mobile Money Airtime Reversal
1. Reversals cover only airtime purchased from a MoMo subscriber’s wallet
2. Reversals are initiated by the subscriber from their own wallets
3. Reversals from Merchant / Agent airtime purchase is not allowed.
4. Minimum airtime to be reversed is GHC 10. Transactions below GHC 10 cannot be reversed.
5. No partial reversal is allowed. The customer needs to ensure that the full value of airtime purchased and the bonus amount received is available before the reversal can be effected.
6. In case some part of the bonus or main airtime has been used by the customer, the transaction cannot be reversed. The customer has the opportunity to top-up to ensure that the full amount is available to be able to reverse.
7. The sender of the Airtime needs to contact the receiver to approve the reversal after initiating the reversal.
8. Airtime reversal can only be done within 72 hours of performing the transaction.
9. No reversal can be processed after 72 hours of purchase.
10. Notification will be sent to both sender and receiver upon completion of the reversal.

Customer will be unable to reverse airtime once bonus has expired (Bonus is valid for 7 days)Validity for bonus credit will reset to default date when airtime is reversed
Airtime amount reversed will reverse validity days given for that transaction
Reversed transactions will be captured on ECW and captioned as MoMo Airtime Reversal
Customers will be sent sms below when service goes live
“Y’ello, you can now reverse an airtime transaction of GHS 10 and above done mistakenly from your wallet within 72 hrs of purchase. Dial details. T & C .*170#, option 6 under Wallet and follow the steps to reverse the transaction.
Airtime and bonus amount in your account must be the same as what was purchased. Call 100 for details. T & C .”
