Recharge with Care Product Summary
§aYo Recharge with Care enables MTN subscribers to buy insurance and pay with airtime to cater for their hospital admission expenses,
as well as funeral expenses anytime they top-up airtime.
Premium deduction per calendar month per policy is 4GHC
§Dial *296# and choose the cover you want (i.e. MyLife, or MyHospital, or Both).
Choose from a minimum premium of GH¢0.25 and a maximum of GH¢2.00 to be deducted automatically from your airtime,
until maximum deduction is made for the cover option chosen. The maximum total premium that can be deducted from your airtime in a month is GH¢8.00
§MyLife Cover: Life insurance cover for the MTN subscriber who signs onto the policy. This covers demise of the subscriber/policyholder and a registered family member
§MyFamily: A family member who is covered under MyLife cover option
§MyHospital Cover: Insurance cover for the subscriber/policyholder with benefit paid out when a subscriber spends at least 1 night in hospital.
The accumulated cover, times the number of days spent in the hospital is paid into subscriber’s MTN Mobile Money Account
§MyBoost: Enables subscriber to buy cover instantly by paying one off premium using airtime or mobile money
§AutoBoost: Premium amount that is automatically set up for the cover option chosen by the subscriber. This premium is automatically deducted from the airtime. The AutoBoost amount can be increased or decreased by the policyholder
§MyBeneficiary: This is the person/individual nominated to be the beneficiary of
MyLife cover to whom the benefit amount will be paid in the event of death. A beneficiary is also sometimes known as a next of kin.
§MyCaretaker: This is a trusted person that can make claims on behalf of the policy holder.
This person can make sure that the nominated Beneficiary receives MyLife cover in the event of death.
They can also assist with MyHospital claim if the policy holder is unable to. MyCareTaker must be 18 years or older
§The policy is created when the subscriber accepts the terms & conditions and pays the first premium
§Provides life cover for both subscriber (MyLife) and one family member (MyFamily), and hospitalisation (MyHospital) cover for the subscriber only
§Policy term or duration - policy is 30 days renewable. However, it terminates at 70 years for any life assured
§Eligibility: 18 to 65 years, resident permit in Ghana
The registered family member can be anyone of the following members; spouse, children, parents, parents-in-law, grandparents, uncles, aunts, brothers,
sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews and nieces who are age between 1 and 65 years.
Cover terminates at age 70 years for both the policyholder and covered family member.
Where you have registered for the policy under multiple MTN telephone numbers, maximum payout for 1 event on any 1 insured is GH¢6,000
Benefit, and GH¢100 for MyHospital benefit. for MyLife and MyFamily
5. Waiting Period: A 30 day waiting period applies to the policy under the following events in which only death and hospitalisation due to accident is payable:
a. Commencement of the first policy; or
b. Reinstatement of the policy after 60 days from expiry of last cover; or
c. Change of registered family member(family member can be changed every 6 months)
6. Claims procedure: You have to report your claim within 30 days of the event occurring. Dial *296# or visit www.ayo.com.gh to report
or file a claim and provide the following documents;
· Evidence of death: Death certificate, or medical certificate of cause of death, or burial permit, or official letter from local chief, religious leader or
an authorized district Assembly representative
· Evidence of hospitalisation: Excuse note, or medical bill, or discharge letter showing date of admission and discharge, endorsed by a doctor from a
Ghana Ministry of Health accredited hospital.
7. Exclusions: You are not eligible for payment if;
· Claim documents not authenticated; or
· Insured event occurred prior to the purchase of cover; or
· Admitted to hospital due to self-inflicted injury, war, abuse, of alcohol or illegal drugs, childbirth, cosmetic or elective surgery; or
· If the claim was caused, directly or indirectly, by active participation in war, invasion, acts of foreign enemies, hostilities, warlike operations,
rebellion, revolution, insurrection, civil unrest; or
· If insured event occurs outside the borders of Ghana.
