Please be informed that a new feature known as Suspend or Hold a Particular Transaction Amount has been added on the ECW Platform.
This will make it possible to withhold funds related to a specific transaction in cases of wrong transfers.
This new feature will enable customers to be able to have access to the rest of their funds to perform transactions from their wallet during the reversal process.
The SMS notification below will be sent to the sender and wrong receiver once a reversal is triggered on the system.
BEFORE REVERSAL
SENDER’S SMS Transfer of GHS (amount) to (recipient MSISDN) has been reserved pending approval by recipient for reversal.
RECEIVER’S SMS Transfer of GHS (amount) to (sender MSISDN) has been reserved pending your approval for reversal.
AFTER REVERSAL
SENDER’S SMS Transfer of GHS (amount) with Financial Transaction: ID to (recipient MSISDN) on (date and time) d has been reversed and Your new balance is GHS (amount). Transaction Fee is GHS 0.00
RECEIVER’S SMS Transfer of GHS (amount) with Financial Transaction: ID to (sender MSISDN) on (date and time) has been reversed Transaction Fee is GHS 0.00 and Your new balance is GHS (amount). Transaction Fee is GHS 0.00
HOW IT WORKS
1. Once an agent triggers a reversal on ECW, the particular transaction is moved to the reserved balance of the recipient.
2. SMS notification is sent to both sender and recipient.
SMS TO SENDER: “Transfer of GHS (AMOUNT) to 233xxxxxx has been reserved, pending approval by recipient for reversal”
SMS TO RECIPIENT: “Transfer of GHS (AMOUNT) received from 233xxxxxx has been reserved, pending your approval for reversal”
3. Back office agent contacts the recipient for approval to effect reversal. Reversal is completed by back office agent when customer approves.
4. Customers receive SMS notification once reversal is approved.
SMS TO SENDER: “Transfer of GHS (AMOUNT) with financial transaction ID: 28568XX to 233XXXXX on 2018-02-01 11:59:08 has been reversed and your new balance is GHSXXX. Transaction Fee is GHS 0”
SMS TO RECIPIENT: “Transfer of GHS (AMOUNT) with financial transaction ID: 28568XX from 233XXXXX on 2018-2-05 11:59:08 has been reversed and your new balance is GHSXX. Transaction Fee is GHS 0”
NB;
When recipient does not give approval for reversal, the reserved amount is released.
Customers will notice their available balance is different from their current balance when they dial *170# to check their wallet.
Checks on ECW will show reserved balance as well as available balance
The feature will only work when the transaction amount is intact and has not been used or reduced
