MTN customers who access Facebook using the Facebook App, Facebook Lite or Facebook via Web browser
but run out of data can access Facebook for free without having data bundle.
Customers will receive a prompt that they have run out of data therefore can opt in to browse Facebook for free or not.
“You’ve run out of data. With MTN, you can post and view text on Facebook without data charges until you have data available again.
Use Facebook for free”
Once customer opts in by selecting “USE FACEBOOK FOR FREE”, Facebook will credit customer with
20MB data for browsing Facebook only. Customer shall receive 20MB offer only once a day.
Customers who do not want to access the free mode will have the option to reject offer.
Customer who receive 20MB data from Facebook can view or post text only, send text on Facebook messenger and also post comments.
Data cannot be used to view or upload videos, pictures, Facebook stories, GIF and view a link on Facebook.
Customers will receive a pop up that they have exhausted their data bundle and will be notified on the main page once they launch the Facebook page:
“Text only (Out of data)”
Customers who exhaust the 20MB given by Facebook shall receive prompt confirming they have exhausted the data offer
hence need to purchase data to browse Facebook and will not be able to access free mode any more.
Once customer purchases a data bundle (any bundle which can be used to access Facebook), the free mode will no more be disable
Customer can then view images, videos, GIFs etc. which are not accessible on the free mode.
