The Speakers

Thom Gable, Microsoft AR/VR

I partner with multidisciplinary teams of researchers, designers, program managers, and developers to plan, perform, present, and implement research findings across a variety of Microsoft’s augmented, virtual, and mixed reality (AR/VR/MR) products. These research studies apply an array of mixed methods approaches to gather data ranging from generative to evaluative throughout the spectrum of the product development cycle and across a range of consumer, enterprise, and public sector users.

Much of this work focuses on leading programs of user research for determining and implementing the future of human input, device form factors, and accessibility with regard to AR/VR/MR devices. This work has resulted in an increase in Microsoft’s knowledge base of human input with AR/VR devices as seen through over 50 internally published research reports, multiple patents, and high user satisfaction with shipped devices and experience.
