I enjoy helping others get more from their technology than they realize is possible. Apple has historically done a great job in many ways making hardware and software more accessible for differently-abled users. With the pandemic, new challenges have arisen: with physical and social distancing having been the norm for the past fifteen months, how can a person with low- or no-vision maintain their personal space if they are unable to see others in proximity?
In concert with the infographic and audio component, this video segment offers a brief tutorial to give the learner a primer for turning on the Magnifer software feature, and activating the People Detection (Social Distance) feature of Apple the Accessibility Settings.
Project Three Key Learning Objective: To support the user of an Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max or iPhone 12 Pro and iOS 14.2 or better in successfully setting up the Magnifier feature and activating the People Detection software, they will watch the software being enabled with step-by-step directions, and see a first-hand demonstration of to how use the People Detection feature in an inhabited area.

This assignment has been a natural progression from the first two assignments, for which I'm grateful. It was still a LOT of work. Overall, I am more pleased with the outcome of the video than I was with either the graphic or audio in earlier segments. Maybe that's because video lends itself to the topic at hand, maybe I have more experience coordinating learning outcomes, or maybe some of each of those things.
This portion of the project did a good job supporting learning outcomes; it is really what I'd envision from the outset. If I had it to do over again, for comparision's sake I'd have given my actor screen recording capabilities, to include a side-by-side of what she was seeing as well as what I was filming. I would have started filming ealier in the day to mitigate against changing lighting conditions. I would also have given myself more time for post-production; the voice over narration I did would have been edited much more cleanly and effectively in Garage Band with a movie track. That was my intention; I ran out of time.
I did learn some things along the way. Building on the audio from last time, I exaggerated vocal patterns to add emphasis and clarity for the audience. I became a LOT more versed in iMovie keyboard shortcuts. Getting my narrated audio and video to line up was really hard, but my sense of timing improved as I was working through the project. I am still missing something, though, that makes my work look more polished. (Maybe experience?) I'm not sure what that X factor is yet, but I'll keep striving for it.
