People Detection uses the camera on an iPhone, plus a few other high-end technologies like LiDar and Voice Over, to indicate the prescence of people and how far away they are from the user. The software can be set up to notify the user with sounds, speech, and haptic feedback. The closer a user is to another person, the more pronounced that feedback is. People Detection is a tool that can set up in a few steps.
Project Learning Objective: The user of an Apple iPhone 12 Pro or iPhone 12 Pro Max and iOS 14.2 or better will successfully set up, turn on, and activate the People Detection software and use that to publicly navigate an inhabited area at least once without assistance.
My name is Becky Roesch. I am currently the digital marketing coordinator for a small firm in my hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. Previous to this, I was a Creative trainer with Apple (where I taught folks how to use their technology better, and hosted tech learning field-trips for youth and community groups). My working life started when I was teaching elementary school to fourth and fifth graders, way, way back in the day. This is my first grad class with Mizzou; I’m excited to be back in school, and looking forward to being on the learning side of the desk for a while.
When I'm not working or going to school, I am raising two witty, beautiful, and fiercely independent teenager daughters and a ferocious-not-ferocious-at-all pit bull named Pepper. I like to read, cook, swim, and swing dance-- and while I may run, I don't like to.
