At ISL Lab, our mission is to develop AI-based intelligent systems capable of human-level cognitive and decision-making capabilities. These systems can be applied to autonomous vehicles, robotics, and any other AI-driven technologies.
Our research follows a structured progression: Initially, we refine the traditional perception-prediction-planning (3Ps) decision-making pipeline in a modular manner. Next, we work towards integrating these modules, leveraging multimodal data such as visual, linguistic, and motion information. Ultimately, we aim to lead a paradigm shift towards world model, pushing the boundaries of intelligent AI systems.
We cover a wide range of research areas related to perception, prediction, and planning. The following are some of our key research topics, but our work is not limited to these.
Forecasting future states of environments, objects, and agents
Applications: autonomous driving, robotics, human behavior prediction
Understand and predict human movement and intention
Applications: human-robot interaction, augmented reality, sports analytics
Understand environmental information from sensory inputs (camera, LIDAR, etc)
Applications: autonomous systems, surveillance
Decision-making frameworks for AI agents in dynamic environments
Applications: motion manipulation of robots and path planning in autonomous driving
Integration of diverse data modalities (vision, language, motion)
Applications: human-AI interaction, autonomous systems, cognitive AI
