It is a Secondary Technical School covering three fields of study: Constructions, Environment and Territory - Tourism - and Science. The school promote European opportunities and learning through experience, learning by doing, networking and exchange. We believe in multilingualism, human rights and mentoring as a set of practices for inclusion and attention to those who suffer socio-economic, geographic and psycho-physical disadvantage. The school is located in Praia da Vitória, Terceira Island, in the Azores Archipelago, and offers a variety of teaching areas and levels. The school has middle and secondary classes (787 students), vocational courses (120 students) and also adult students, who attend classes at night or take online classes. The school has great sports facilities available for all classes, but above all for the Sports Technician course, there are large fields and one greenhouse for the Gardening and Agriculture courses, workshops for the Metalworking course, several ICT rooms not only for a wide group of classes to use regularly but also for the Programming Technician course. At the present moment, its School Educational Project is based on the motto “ESVN – uma Referência na formação” (“ESVN - A Reference in Training”), as a reflection of the role that this school wants to have in its community.

The school forms part of St. Ignatius College, one of the ten cluster networks. It opened its doors to students in September 2012. As a population, we have 850 students. The school is situated within an industrial action. Our school also offers lecturing classes to the Directorate for Lifelong Learners and Early School Leavers for adult classes and it is used by the Department for Curriculum within the Directorate for Quality and Standards in Education for the yearly COPE sessions of state teachers. Also, the school is used by the chess club for their activities and is in collaboration with the Malta Rugby Federation. The school was built with the latest technology. It has 6 computers labs, 2 biology labs, and 3 physics labs. The school also has a fully functioning library and an auditorium which is used for school functions and also rent for other schools initiatives.

The school was founded 70 years ago and has traditionally been recognised for its innovative pedagogy. New technologies and languages have always been a priority.
