Ramazan is a reminder that our life in this world is not about our careers, wealth, or pleasure derived from consumption. Allah T'aala created life and death to see who among us can do the best of deeds. The celebration of Eid is a celebration of the deeds of Ramazan, which we hope were accepted by Allah, and will be rewarded by greatest gifts of God for the Muslims and for all of humanity: Guidance towards His Noor.
The upcoming lecture on Sunday 7th May 2023 at 2:00PM Pakistan Time is on the Topic: Needs, Wants, and Scarcity: Resolving Confusions Created by Western Economics. ZOOM links are given below

Whereas conventional economics teaches us to try to consume more and more to get maximum pleasure, Islam teaches us to enjoy what we have. According to Hadeeth: Whoever among you wakes up in the morning secure in his dwelling, healthy in his body, and he has his food for the day, then it is as if the whole world has been given to him. With this understanding, Islam encourages us to strive to fulfill our needs, but strongly discourages fulfillment of wants. This is radically different from capitalism, which is built on creating surplus goods, and also the DESIRE to consume in excess, above and beyond our needs. Because wants cannot be fufilled, scarcity becomes a key issue in modern economics - the foundation. Needs are limited, and can be easily fulfilled within the resources available, so the central question of Islamic Economics is how to distribute available goods to fulfill the needs of all members of society. Obviously, this requires an economic system radically different from capitalism.
As explained earlier, this course on A New Approach to Islamic Economics has one online live lecture, and one offline lecture. Our last offline lecture was on the topic of "Current Economic Crisis in Pakistan and Solutions: An Islamic Perspective". The link will take you to the new website for the course which provides all the lectures, and complete set of course materials (see: http://bit.ly/IslamicEcon2023 ).
May Allah T'aala unite our hearts in love, and guide us to His Noor, taking us out of the darkness into the light,.
