Umar Farooq (GSM’13–M’18) received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan, in 2004 and 2011, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS, Canada, in 2017. He has over 15 years of experience in effectively teaching the junior and senior level courses to undergraduate students of electrical engineering. He has also supervised over 30 senior year design projects. In addition, he established the Society of Engineering Excellence at EED, University of Punjab (UoP), Lahore, to promote research activities amongst undergraduate students of EE with the support of the then Vice-Chancellor, Prof. M. Kamran. He used the society platform to actively supervise the students in various technical design contests, including hardware projects exhibition, microcontroller interfacing, circuit designing, technical paper arranged by IEEE, IET, ACM, and other society chapters in Pakistan, and won over 75 awards in these contests for UoP in a period of four years (2008-2012). His trained students have been able to secure graduate positions in world leading universities, such as ETH Zurich; Monash University, Australia; the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Dhahran; Dalhousie University, Canada, Aalto University, Finlanad and the University of Alberta, Canada. He has published a number of papers in peer-reviewed international conferences and journals. His research interests include fuzzy logic, neural networks, feedback control systems and their applications.,Dr. Farooq was a recipient of the Dalhousie Faculty of Graduate Studies Publications Awards for the three consecutive years 2014–2016. He was also awarded with the 2017 Dalhousie Faculty of Engineering Excellence Award and the 2017 and 2018 Nova Scotia Graduate Scholar Awards.Â
Shankar Lal was born on February 23, 2003, in Quetta, Balochistan, Pakistan. From a young age, he excelled in academics, topping his school in matriculation. His achievements earned him a scholarship from the Chamalang Balochistan Education Program, allowing him to pursue his FSc at Garrison Academy, Senior Campus for Boys Quetta Cantt (an Army College) where he topped all of Balochistan in the pre-engineering section in 2021, scoring 98% marks in FSc. from the Federal Board of Islamabad.
Shankar’s journey led him to the University of the Punjab Lahore, where he earned a reserved seat for Balochistan after securing the top position in a highly competitive test. Now a student in the Physics department, he is passionate about electricity, magnetism, and nuclear physics, with a strong interest in electronics. Due to his passion and dedication, he has been selected as the Joint Secretary of the Physics Association at Physics Department. Shankar is skilled in programming (C++, Matlab), circuit design, and has explored areas like Ethical Hacking, Youtube SEO and Cryptography through online platform Simplilearn.com. Moreover, at the University of the Punjab, Shankar won first place in a poster idea presentation competition in 2024, conducted by the Society of Electrical Engineering (SEE) and PU Electronics & Automation Club (PEAC) , where he proposed innovative ideas for enhancing battery health using Genetic Engineering and AI. He also attended a conference titled "Advances in Material Sciences," in 2023, where he gained insights from international experts.
Shankar is a polyglot, fluent in Hindi, Gurmukhi, Sanskrit, English, Urdu, Sindhi, and Brahui, with experience living among various cultural communities. Looking ahead, his research interests lie at the intersection of electricity, magnetism, and nuclear physics, focusing on cutting-edge challenges like harnessing nuclear fusion for clean energy, developing advanced materials for spintronics, and exploring quantum magnetism for next-generation technologies. He aims to contribute to solutions that address global energy needs and advance the frontier of quantum computing."
Umair Butt is a persistent, ingenious & philanthropic electrical engineering student, currently residing in Pakistan. Butt was born in Lahore on 15th of October,2000. Being bright from the beginning he went to The Crescent Model Higher Secondary School & then did his Matriculation from Saleem Nawaz Fazaia College, Masroor (a Pakistan Air Force schooling system). Butt then did his Intermediate from the Punjab Group of Colleges, one of the leading colleges of the country & is now enrolled as an Electrical Engineering student in the University of the Punjab completing his Bachelors of Sciences degree.Â
He has a wide range of skill set including proficiency in computer programming languages such as (C, C++, CSS, Python, html), Arduino coding, circuit design, PCB fabrication & basic robotics. Over the years he has developed interest in Machine learning, AI, Automated Industries & EVs. In 2020 he presented a paper on Boolean algebra simplification at the international conference SOFA2020 held in Arad, Romania. He has taken part in many IEEE conferences, robotics workshops and has completed a course on AI by Samsung Innovation Campus. He furthermore has experience in organizing official conferences and events with over 500 attendees.

Zumair Hussain was born on 4th February, 2001 in the city of Parachinar, District Kurram, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. He has received his matriculation from the National School and College Islamabad and has conceded higher secondary degree from Islamia College, Peshawar. Currently, he is pursuing Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in the field of Electrical Engineering from University of the Punjab Lahore, Pakistan, batch (2018-2022). He has received Student of the Year and Academic Distinction Awards during his matriculation. He has also been involved in organizing co-curricular activities like sports festival, poster presentation of Society of Engineering Excellence (SEE) and IEEE events. His future objective is to become a researcher in the field of Renewable Energy and Control systems and provide the world with Green Energy solutions to cope with problems like Energy insecurity, Climate change and Greenhouse gas emissions.
