ISL-LEX is an open-source online interface built using the SIGN-LEX visualization (see also Contributors), which provides phonological information and other details about 961 non-compound signs in Israeli Sign Language. Each sign is accompanied by a video, and the entire dataset is presented in a visual network of phonological relations, with the most closely related signs in clusters. The ISL-LEX interface is available in both English and Hebrew.
Frequency ratings are from 19 native deaf ISL signers for 961 signs (see Novogrodsky & Meir 2020)
Iconicity ratings for 467 signs are from two groups: 11 ISL native signers and 41 Hebrew-speaking sign-naïve (see Novogrodsky & Meir 2020)
38 formational characteristics in six domains: articulator (4 fields), handshape (9 fields), orientation (2 fields), location (4 fields), core movement (11 fields), and manner of movement (8 fields)
Data for each ISL sign is based on a specific reference video. Most videos are from the ISL dictionary (https://www.isl.org.il ; currently offline) produced by the Israel Association of the Deaf and IADPI (now Maggelai Shema); additional videos from the BIBI Project
