Purpose
The ChatCLD Framework is designed to facilitate the systematic adaptation of Learning Designs (LDs) according to specific instructional and technological contexts using Generative AI (GenAI).
It interweaves the processes of analysis, evaluation, design, and development in an iterative manner, enabling teachers to refine their LDs through continuous interaction and reflection.
The process begins with context specification and culminates in the development of a finalized LD that aligns pedagogical intent with contextual affordances.
By engaging teachers as co-designers and evaluators, the framework empowers them to make informed decisions, reflect on their designs, and create contextually adaptive learning experiences.
Begin by selecting one of the two provided contexts.
Choose the context that best aligns with your teaching scenario, familiarity, or the specific situation for which you are adapting the LD.
Table 1: Contextual Parameters
Context I: Online Instruction via Google Meet, Online Interactive Tools (e.g., Padlet, Mentimeter)
Context II: Physical/face to face instruction using Projector-equipped classroom.
Refer to the Evaluation Table, which presents the eight essential dimesions that determine LD quality and contextual alignment. These elements are:
Interactivity
Active Learning
Assessment
Feedback
Accessibility
Communication
Technology Support
Each dimension includes:
A Goal describing its purpose.
A Checklist column titled “Evaluate if LD addresses goal” with observable indicators to assess whether your LD meets that goal.
Review your ChatGPT-generated LD against each dimension in Table 2.
For every checklist item, rate the extent to which your LD currently fulfills that dimension using the following five-point scale:
Scale Description
1 None – The LD lacks any features addressing the goal.
2 Minimal – Very few features address the goal.
3 Partial – Some features address the goal but need further development.
4 Substantial – Several features significantly address the goal.
5 Fully – The LD comprehensively and effectively addresses the goal.
Tick the relevant score for each dimension.
For dimesion where items are unchecked or scored low (1–3), refer to the corresponding prompts provided for that element.
Input the prompt into ChatGPT (or another GenAI tool) to receive suggestions for enhancing your LD.
Review and integrate these suggestions thoughtfully into your LD.
After making changes, revisit the checklist and reassess your LD using the Satisfaction Scale below:
Scale Description
1 Not Satisfied at All – The revised LD has not addressed the goal.
2 Slightly Satisfied – Minimal improvement observed.
3 Moderately Satisfied – Some progress made; still needs refinement.
4 Satisfied – Goal adequately addressed; minor improvements possible.
5 Very Satisfied – Goal fully and effectively addressed; exceeds expectations.
Record your satisfaction rating in the column “Has the revised LD now addressed the goal? How satisfied are you?”
After completing the ratings, write a brief reflection in the “Teacher Comments/Observations” column:
Note whether the prompts led to meaningful improvements.
Describe how the LD changed (e.g., structure, activities, tools used).
Reflect on what aspects of the ChatGPT interaction were most useful for contextual adaptation.
Repeat the process iteratively as needed.
Continue engaging with ChatGPT and re-evaluating until all checklist items are satisfactorily addressed and your LD aligns with the chosen context.
Compile the final version of your adapted Learning Design based on:
ChatGPT-generated suggestions,
Your ratings, and
Reflective insights.
Ensure the LD demonstrates clear alignment between pedagogical intent, instructional mode, and technological affordances.
Submit or share this version as the final contextually adapted LD.
