The ChatCLD is a seven-dimensional framework developed to support teachers in adapting LDs tailored to their instructional and technological contexts through the use of GenAI.
It scaffolds teachers in developing theory-informed and research evidence based LDs
It provides clearly defined dimensions and toolkits that guide teachers in adapting LDs to specific instructional modes and technological settings.
Seven key dimensions: interactivity, active learning, assessment, feedback mechanism, accessibility, communication and technology support
Building on these dimensions, ChatCLD incorporates two toolkits:
i) Learning Design Evaluation Scale (LD-E): The LD-E allows teachers to evaluate the quality of their LDs across the seven dimensions within the specified context. Using a five-point Likert scale ranging from None (1) to Fully (5), teachers reflect on how well their LD addresses each dimension within the specified context. For instance, under Interactivity, teachers assess whether interactive features such as polls, breakout rooms, or collaborative documents are incorporated as shown in table below.
ii) Learning Design Prompts (LD-P): The LD-P toolkit provides a structured and set of prompts, designed using the CLEAR framework, to guide LDs adaptation. Teachers input these prompts into ChatGPT to receive targeted dimension suggestions and strategies that strengthen LD adaption according to the context. For example, to enhance interactivity in online settings as shown in the table below, a prompt might be: “In the above LD, add interactive activities suitable for an online classroom, such as breakout rooms, polls, and collaborative projects.”
