Professional Bio
Dr. Paredes-Sabja is an Associate Professor at and the scientific leader of the Microbiota-Host Interactions & Clostridia Research Group at Universidad Andrés Bello (www.microbioma.cl). His research program investigates topics at the interface of microbial pathogenesis and host biology. His group uses insight from molecular biology, Clostridial genetics, cellular microbiology, eukaryotic cell biology, proteomics, immunoproteomics, host biology, confocal and transmission microscopy and animal models to uncover how bacterial spores of both, health-associated gut symbionts and pathogenic bacterium, interact with the intestinal mucosa and persist in the host during health and disease.
