Professional Bio
Dr. Niranjan –as he is better known– is a Professor of Food Bioprocessing at the University of Reading in UK. A trained Chemical Engineer, he joined Reading in 1989 as a lecturer. He was accorded a Personal Chair in July 2005. He has a strong research portfolio with publications in a number of areas including bubble containing foods, high pressure processing, and development of compostable packaging. He is currently the lead investigator in research projects funded by leading governmental agencies as well as multi-national companies. He is an editor of the Journal of Food Engineering, a Fellow of the Institute of Food Science and Technology, and the immediate Past Chair of the International Society of Food Engineering. He is actively engaged in promoting Trans-National Food Engineering Education, and is particularly involved in knowledge transfer and enterprise activities.
