The V International Symposium on Computational Molecular Sciences is honored to be organized by Universidad del Rosario. Founded in 1653, the university stands as one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions in Colombia, known historically as "The Cradle of the Republic."
Guided by its motto Nova et Vetera (The New and the Old), Universidad del Rosario seamlessly blends centuries of humanist tradition with cutting-edge scientific research. By hosting the 2026 edition, the university reaffirms its commitment to leading the national conversation in computational sciences and fostering global academic partnerships.
The symposium sessions will take place in the renowned Jockey Club Building, an architectural landmark located just steps from the University's main cloister. Now preserved by Universidad del Rosario as a cultural asset, this venue offers a setting of singular distinction for our academic community.
A Meeting Place of History: Founded in 1874, the Jockey Club served for over a century as a central hub for Colombian society. Its halls have witnessed key moments in the nation's history, serving as a gathering place for presidents, ministers, and intellectuals who helped shape the country's development.
Architectural Legacy: The current building, inaugurated in 1940 and designed by the celebrated architect Gabriel Serrano Camargo, is considered a masterpiece of the Republican style. Declared a National Monument in 1984, the venue features an imposing stone exterior and preserved period interiors, including the "Hall of the Star" and grand marble staircases that will now welcome our scientific delegates.
Strategic Location: Situated in the historical heart of Bogotá (Parque Santander), the venue places attendees at the cultural epicenter of the capital. Guests are within walking distance of the Gold Museum, the Banco de la República Art Collection, and the historic La Candelaria district.
This distinguished setting ensures that the V International Symposium will be not just an academic meeting, but a memorable immersion into the cultural history of Colombia.
