Launched as a biennial initiative, the Bogota Symposium on Computational Molecular Sciences was created to unite research groups across Bogotá dedicated to the study and development of this increasingly important field. From its inception, the primary goals have been to foster academic exchange, drive inter-institutional collaboration, and provide crucial scientific updates for faculty and students alike.
Following its inaugural 2017 session at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, the event quickly expanded its horizons. By the second edition in 2019 at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, the symposium began featuring prominent international scientists and research groups, significantly broadening its scope beyond the local level. This global reach was further consolidated through subsequent gatherings: the virtual third edition in 2021, adapted due to the pandemic, and the in-person return for the fourth edition in 2024 at Universidad El Bosque.
Reflecting this sustained growth and international integration, the organizing committee has officially renamed the event for its upcoming fifth edition. Now titled the International Symposium on Computational Molecular Sciences, the projected 2026 gathering will be co-organized by the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and the Universidad del Rosario, continuing the tradition of strengthening the research community.
