Air travel:
Bergen has a rather good connection to the international flights network with several daily connections to the large European hubs in Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Copenhagen. In addition there are numerous flights per day between Bergen and Oslo with its international connections. Entering Norway via Oslo will, however, mean that you have to collect your luggage (even if checked through by the airline to Bergen) on arrival in Oslo for customs clearance and then check it in again.
Bergen airport is well connected to the city center by taxi (ca. 500 NOK/ca. 20 minutes), airport bus (ca. 150 NOK/ca.30 minutes), and city rail (40 NOK/ca. 40 minutes).
By train:
Bergen has several daily train connections to Oslo and you will spend about 7 hours on a scenic ride across the mountains.
By car:
In case you want to drive yourself you can choose between 3 different main routes across the mountains and should estimate 8 to 10 hours for the trip from Oslo to Bergen.
Accommodation:
Bergen has a considerable number of hotels to chose among, but be aware that August is still high season, so you should not wait too long with your reservation.
