Defining the Why's of the Problem
Problem – Hopeless, anxiety and depression became the responses of children and youth during the onslaught of Covid-19.
1. Why do children and youth feel hopelessness, anxiety, and depression during the Covid -19 onslaught?
- Because education become almost impossible through the virtual mode and learning is difficult.
2. Why did hopelessness, anxiety, and depression affect the youth and children?
- Learning depended mostly on themselves so most of them especially those who have no access to technologies find it hard to be honestly learning.
3. Why would Covid-19 give hopelessness, anxiety and depression to children and youth?
- With Covid-19, lockdowns and health protocols were implemented and being vulnerable, youth and children could not be excused from the restrictions so they are “controlled” and they don’t feel free.
4. Why would the children and youth not feel free?
- Children and youth are mobile people and mostly social beings, so with the restrictions they cannot go to where they want, cannot do what they like as usual, and cannot mingle like before covid.
5. Why do the children and youth no longer go where they want, do what they like, and mingle like before?
It is due to lack of considerations by the policy-makers on the characteristics, personalities, and situation of children and their non- involvement on the formulation of restrictions that made them feel ‘left behind’ and so they cannot follow the trends within their means- because they were not part of the planning process.
