The following materials were prepared for a 7.5-week accelerated online class in the mathematical tools used to model language taught at the University of Arizona. The class is a 100-level, small-enrollment course intended to be accessible to non-linguists. Major topics covered include Set Theory, Formal Logic, and Formal Language Theory.
This class was structured around Hammond (2015), Introduction to the Mathematics of Language. Many examples, particularly in lesson videos, are drawn from this text.
