The ubiquitous biological process of Aging results in a progressive and irreversible decline in physical function across all organ systems that is induced by the accumulation of damage in response to a variety of stressors. Geroscience has now emerged as an interdisciplinary field that aims to understand the relationship between aging and chronic age-related diseases and geriatric syndromes. Exploration of novel avenues such as aberrant expression of RNAs, proteins, metabolites, and their modifications associated with ageing and age-related conditions is a key for the development of interventions enhancing lifespan and delaying the onset of age-related morbidities.
This Two-day International Symposium on Ageing and Age-Related Disorders (ISAAD) will bring together leading University Researchers, Healthcare Professionals, Academicians and students from various backgrounds to discuss and share their views and research findings on all facets of Aging. The scope of this two-day international symposia includes but not restricted to Gerontology, Molecular Aging, Aging clinical trials, Aging case studies, Cognition, Progeria, and Age-associated diseases like Arthritis, Cataracts, Osteoporosis, Type 2 Diabetes, Hypertension, Cellular Senescence and stem cell homeostasis, Stroke, Aging's effect on cancer, Immunosenescence, hair and skin aging, Age-Related neural and Macular Degeneration, Dementia, Alzheimer's disease, Atherosclerosis, Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, Nutrition Care, Anti-aging Medicine and Aging Rejuvenation therapies.

The Department of Biotechnology at Bharathiar University was established in the year 1990 with 2 faculty members exclusively for research. The first post-graduate programme in the Department- M.Sc. Industrial Biotechnology was started in the year 2001 followed by M.Sc. Biotechnology in the subsequent academic year. At present there are 7 faculty members and one Ramalingaswami re-entry fellowship Assistant Professor in the Department, involved in teaching and research activities. In addition to fields such as plant transgenics; biopharming; cancer therapeutics and medical microbiology, research labs with next-generation research fields like genome editing technologies, translational genomics and proteomics, reproductive immunology and regenerative medicine were newly established. All the faculty are continuously receiving extramural research grants from various funding agencies like DST, DBT, DRDO, UGC, ICMR, UKIERI, TANSCHE, TNSCST etc., which included State, National as well as international agencies. Department is known for its high-quality publications and consultancy work in the area of molecular authentication of the herbal plants and their products to the reputed herbal industries. Due to these inclusive rapid growths, UGC-SAP, DST-PURSE, FIST and DBT are supporting the Department continuously for establishing and maintaining the high-end research and student laboratory infrastructure facilities.
