Nu de door Covid 19 veroorzaakte economische crisis steeds meer mensen raakt, lijkt een gegarandeerd basisinkomen voor iedereen extra aanlokkelijk.
Maar klopt dat ook ? Een basisinkomen kan ook de motivatie om betaald werk te zoeken wegnemen. En wat verstaan we eigenlijk onder werk ?
We stellen een hernieuwd voorstel voor een basisinkomen, nu genaamd burgerinkomen, bedacht door auteur Michiel van Hasselt, centraal op deze avond.
Michiel van Hasselt gaat in debat met de zaal en met Dick Timmer filosoof aan de Universiteit Utrecht, en Julia Kleinrensink (raadslid Groen Links) .

In 2019 a research group at Technical University Eindhoven (TU) received funds to develop a prototype of an “artificial womb”. This womb is a sort of external bio-bag which resembles the uterus and should be able to replicate the natural course of pregnancy without the direct involvement of the female body (see part 1 of VPRO-series “De toekomst is fantastisch” on human reproduction).
This scientific research raises several ethical questions: Who are the legitimate parents of the baby? What is the impact on the emotional connection between mother and infant? Do artificial pregnancies blur the line between human and technology?

Nuclear energy has a bad reputation, particularly in the Netherlands. Although the probability of a hazardous incident has been reduced to a minimum, when an incident does occur, it has a catastrophic fallout. The nuclear explosion at Chernobyl in 1986 for example had 31 immediate victims and caused significant long-term damage to the environment. However, technology has significantly advanced since this catastrophic nuclear incident. The latest generation nuclear plants are safer than ever.
This symposium is a preliminary look at how new generation nuclear plants could contribute to solving the climate crisis.
