Mission

ITFF (Is The Future Fantastic ) is an Utrecht based community network which aims to foster a conversation between students, researchers, and residents of Utrecht which is focused on how technology is changing our daily lives.

Why?

In a technologizing world as ours we face an incredible speed of growing change. Information grows, and so does technology concerning human life in all spectres imaginable. Health care and developments in treatment. Modern warfare. Social media and privacy. Media Framing. We live in a piccolo mondo moderno - a little modern world. Significant technological dependence is transcending human societies; and some are threatening the healthy steady-state of our planet itself. It is fundamentally transforming our definition of human being - and doing. We want to spark thought and dialogues about these issues as the (potential) future is already affecting us in the now. By taking down the barrier that separates researchers and students from citizens, who are the heart of the city, we want to create‌ democratic access to information and promote that - after all, the change is ours and is ours to make.

How?

ITFF organizes symposiums where we bring together cutting-edge research from various fields to foster the dialogue with each other; and create a regular space for Utrechters to debate about how various issues of the future already affect our present of today.
