Ірина Нова (Iryna Nova)
Poetry Collection
Bohdan Publishing House, Ukraine
Laureate of the All-Ukrainian Vasyl Symonenko Literary Prize 2026 for Best Debut Poetry Collection
200 Grams of Poems offers a snapshot of the poet’s consciousness amidst wartime conditions. It presents a broad spectrum of themes, spanning from the civilian experience of war to a wide array of other narratives. Here, the mundane and the surreal intersect through experiments with form and metaphor. Blending sincerity, intellectual irony, and a philosophy of minimalism, the works in this collection create a unique poetic fusion.
200 Grams of Poems is a poignant diary in lines, written between war, displacement, and internal breakdowns. There are war and love, the silence of the night and the voice of summer, loss and everyday life, irony and tenderness.
In the midst of war, following the 2022 russian aggression, it is also a testament of an author who has experienced exile and now lives with displacement in her own country.
The book is the laureate for the Vasyl Symonenko All-Ukrainian Literary Prize-2026 by the National Writers' Union of Ukraine for Best Debut Poetry Collection.

Essay
Meaning after Loss / Віднайдене у втратах, Bilingual Anthology (UA-EN)
Goethe Institute, Martin Roth-Initiative, Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen e. V., Germany
Meaning after Loss consists of texts and visual works by participants of the Ukrainian Women Artists Residency by Martin Roth-Initiative 2024–2025. The anthology was presented at the Kyiv Book Arsenal Festival in 2025.
The contributions include essays, drawings, photographs and documentations of performances and film projects.
The artists reflect the different experiences resulting from life in wartime, being a woman and an artist, personal and collective traumas, and inevitably questioned identities.
Iryna Beschetnova’s essay questions the “woman” and “artist” definitions, challenging their seeming clarity and criteria. Through the text and the collage, she reveals its contradictions. The work also highlights the difficulty of communicating the lived experience of wartime, as well as challenges in transferring one's own experience to others.

After taking part in the Herstory literary feminist residency, which included an expedition to the city of Bolekhiv in Ivano-Frankivsk oblast, where the founder of Ukrainian feminism and writer, Nataliia Kobrynska lived and worked, and where now there are just a few traces of her presence, Iryna Beschetnova created an essay titled Kobrynska in Bolekhiv: The Space of Absence, focusing on the historical phenomenon of archival silence regarding women.

POETRY: EMOTIONS BY WEIGHT
(ПОЕЗІЯ НА ВАГУ)
2026
Postcards with poetry by contemporary Ukrainian authors
Idea: Iryna Nova
The idea of Iryna Nova's social project Poetry: Emotions by Weight was born from the request of a large number of talented contemporary poets to be published with little opportunity to do so. This project promotes contemporary Ukrainian poetry, providing poets with an alternative opportunity for publication: in collections of postcards, where poems are united by the emotions they convey.
Postcards in envelopes contribute to the larger promotion of contemporary Ukrainian poetry: buying a few postcards as a gift is much easier than an entire collection by an unknown author. Not to mention the fact that printing the first collection is a very difficult task.
Poets of the first edition: Olya Hontar, Olha Iskovych, Katya Stelmashchuk, Iryna Nova
