A listserv is a private email distribution list that allows members of a group to communicate securely via a single shared email address. When one member sends an email to the listserv, it automatically distributes that message to all subscribed members.
The IRSC AAUP listserv is a moderated communication tool designed specifically for current faculty members to:
Share updates on negotiations and governance
Discuss workplace concerns confidentially
Stay informed about AAUP initiatives and actions
Receive timely announcements from the AAUP board and committees
We take the privacy and security of our communications seriously. Here's how we protect members:
Only verified current faculty who are AAUP members are added to the listserv — each request is manually reviewed.
IRSC email addresses are not used, to avoid institutional access or monitoring.
The listserv is hosted through Google Groups, which allows us to control membership and permissions.
Messages are not visible to the public or searchable online.
To maintain the integrity and safety of our shared communications, we ask all members to follow these best practices:
Do not forward emails from the listserv to non-members.
Avoid discussing sensitive content with individuals not affiliated with the group.
Use your personal email (not an IRSC address) to read and respond to listserv messages.
If you suspect a privacy breach, notify the IRSC AAUP Board immediately at aaupirsc@gmail.com.
To access member-only communications, please request to join our private listserv by completing the secure form below.
📝 Request Access to the Listserv: https://forms.gle/ZH2BpakVZcf1QZ4C
Your submission will be reviewed by the IRSC AAUP Board to verify your eligibility as a current AAUP faculty member. Once approved, you’ll receive a confirmation email with access instructions.
Please use a personal (non-IRSC) email address for listserv communications to ensure your privacy.
To share information, ask questions, or start a discussion with the group, simply send an email to:
📧 aaup-irsc@googlegroups.com
Your message will be distributed to all members of the group. Please make sure your subject line is clear and your message is relevant to faculty interests or AAUP-related topics.
Only members of the group can see posts. Messages are not publicly viewable on the web unless explicitly changed in the group’s settings (which they are not by default). This ensures that our discussions remain within the IRSC AAUP community.
When replying to a message:
To reply to everyone in the group, click "Reply all". This keeps the conversation visible to all members.
To reply only to the original sender, click "Reply" instead.
Please be mindful when choosing how to reply—some messages are better suited for group-wide discussion, while others may be more appropriate as private responses.
Yes, you can join the group using a non-Gmail email (e.g., @live.com, yahoo.com, etc.), but you must first create a Google Account using that email address. Here's how:
Go to the Google Account Sign-In page.
Click Create account.
Select Use my current email address instead.
Enter your non-Gmail email address (e.g., your MSN, Yahoo, Live address, NOT your IRSC address).
Click Next.
Google will send a verification code to that email.
Enter the code and click Verify.
Complete the rest of the setup.
Once your Google Account is created with your existing email address, you can be invited to join the group or request access.
Keep messages respectful and constructive.
Stay on topic (issues related to faculty concerns, governance, working conditions, etc.).
Avoid personal or confidential student information (FERPA compliance).
We encourage you to participate actively—your input helps shape our efforts and strengthens our community. If you have questions about how the group works or need help using it, feel free to reach out.
