IRONMAY IS FINISHED! GREAT JOB EVERYONE!
The virtual nature of the IronMay Challenge makes it uniquely adept for engaging many people and teams. Despite this, certain aspects of the event were modified during the pandiemic for necessity and creativity. These included participant devotionals and new competition options. Both were well received and are back again. Our hope is that IronMay can be another positive outlet for you this year.
With that said, IronMay has THREE competition options again this year:
OPTION 1: IronMay
Since pool/water access are beginning to increase again (not everywhere, but in many places), we are reinstating the normal IronMay triathlon option. This will consist of swim (2.4 miles), bike (112 miles) and run/walk (26.2 miles) legs that are each Ironman-length distances.
OPTION 2: IronDuathlon
Many of you still don't have pool/water access and you loved logging miles instead of hours, so here you go! The IronDuathlon is back again. This will consist of bike (112 miles) and run/walk (26.2 miles) legs that are each Ironman-length distances.
OPTION 3: IronTime
During the pandemic, as a product of social distancing or stay at home restrictions, many participants have been cooped up in their homes. For that reason, we created an IronTime competition division that allowed participants to complete any physical activity and log their time. Since this option is new, we continue to modify it based on participant feedback. This year, participants in this division must complete at least 20 cumulative hours of ANY physical activity or exercise to "finish" their virtual race. That's right, ANY physical activity or exercise. Spend 30 minutes doing yoga...LOG IT! Spend 45 minutes stepping in place...LOG IT! Spend 15 minutes doing an ab workout...LOG IT! IronMay has always been based on the honor system. Though the IronTime option expands on the latitude of activities that can be completed, we encourage all participants to honor the spirit of the event and practice honest sportsmanship.
For either competition division (IronMay, IronDuathlon, or IronTime), you can register as an Individual or as a Team. Teams can be comprised of 2-5 people. While most folks who participate strive to complete the minimum distance/time, there are always some who seek greater challenge and competition. For this reason, there will be Champion divisions that individuals and teams can work to enter. More information can be found on the Rules & Info and Awards & Shirts pages.
Without further adieu, buckle up - It's going to be a wild IronMay ride!
