2026 IRONMAY REPORT
Dear IronMay Friends,
It is with mixed feelings that I'm writing to report that IronMay will not be held in 2026. This was a difficult decision. IronMay has been well supported for 18 years by passionate participants and volunteers who have turned it into something truly special. I am amazed and grateful for the longevity of your support and the community that has grown within IronMay.
Yet, as dear as IronMay is, it takes a toll. IronMay consumes emotional and physical bandwidth for several months out of the year. Recent years have allowed me to reflect on the limits of my own bandwidth, the costs of regularly exceeding it, and the importance of rest. For considerable time, IronMay has consumed energy and focus from areas of my life for which I have even greater passion and responsibility. Trying to do it all is a calculus that I’m no longer comfortable with.
After taking the time to listen to God, family and friends, I have made the decision to pause IronMay for 2026. The pause should allow for a restful examination of IronMay’s viability moving forward. What could it look like in future years? Can it be structured differently, better, etc. to reduce burden, while preserving the best parts? It is possible that IronMay will even be put to bed. I think it’s wise to consider all options and feedback. To that end, I welcome your input — suggestions, encouragement, stories of meaning, and ways you might be able to contribute your own talents. All are welcome.
Thank you for your support, your energy, and your commitment over the years. It has never gone unnoticed, and it is deeply appreciated. I encourage you to continue challenging yourself this May in positive ways and lean into the support of others.
