Hello,
My name is Jared Smith and I am the owner and head trainer of Iron Yoke Athletics. I have been involved in sports and weight lifting for 27 years. I started out in soccer until I grew too big to play without hurting the other kids. At 12 I got involved in Martial Arts and practiced Karate Kempo. I played football throughout High School and was also introduced to serious weight lifting. It was at this point that I found a new love! After High School I enlisted into the US Army and learned a high level of discipline that has carried over into my weight training. After my enlistment I got into personal training and eventually worked towards a degree and my Coaching Certification. At first I dabbled mostly in Football and MMA training until I took a training job at our local High School as a Strength and Conditioning coach. The head SSC challenged me to utilizing his program, and I accepted. However, I believed at the age of 36 I was to old to go heavy. I WAS WRONG! His program and the one I eventually wrote for myself rekindled my love for real weight lifting and 4 months later I competed in my first Strongman Competition. Now, once again, serious weight lifting is my life and something I want to share with you.
