I am an Assistant Professor (tenured) and MacGillavry Fellow at the Video & Image Sense Lab at the Informatics Institute at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). I am also affiliated with the Department of Brain and Cognition at the Psychology Research Institute at the UvA.
My Team and I study vision in the human brain using measurement techniques such as EEG, fMRI and ECoG, in combination with computational models, including deep neural networks. The goal of our research is to find out how the human brain perceives and understands real-world images and videos. We also explore how we can use bio-inspired computations from human perception to improve AI.
