At present I am working with seismic data sets from northern Gulf of Mexico . This passive margin setting has been one of the most explored regions among the petroleum sectors. My objective is to constrain the interaction of sedimentary packages along each individual faults .
The second part of my project deals with the change of fracture patterns in response to fracture healing as moving away from oceanic ridge in Mid Atlantic Oceanic ridge (MAR). With the distance away from the ridge , I am monitoring how fracture healing causes changes in hydraulic properties of oceanic crusts in different segments.I will be using core samples from past IODP expedition 357 and hopefully from future expedition IODP 390/393.
The third project encompasses studying the recurrence seismic events in and around Japan .While I have been invited to join IODP expedition 386 -Japan Trench Paleoeismology , my research comprises of correlating the geologic events of the past both in offshore and onshore to ascertain the magnitude of giant vs small seismic events.
