Exactly. The worst change in all iOS 17. They also changed the vibration so all apps have the same vibration. I used to recognize apps via the vibration and I knew what is important and what is not only by the vibration. So now I am looking for a way to downgrade because notifications are the BASICS of the phone and they changed it without a chance to customise it back yourself. No thanks.

Dear Apple,After os17 update the notification sound has changed, liked other people are also mentioning and it is becoming very annoying and not able change it make situation more worst. It unnecessarily make us think that what compromise we can face without our consent in the upcoming updates !!

I hate this, but the way I fixed it was shortened a song on my MacBook and made sure i could see it in my Music. Then configure an automation on the iPhone (Shortcuts>Automation) that would set a tone when a certain person texted me - you can also do for specific works as well. I had it set to run automatically, and then tested it out.

I really don't like this change, and because i only had 1 different tone needed for a single person the automation worked. If it was for everyone/Everything - it would totally be a different experience.

Please allow this to be changed. I only have 25% hearing in my left ear and I am unable to hear the new notification sound, especially if my phone is to my left. It's still hard to hear even if it is in a different location. I have missed numerous notifications. Is there a way I can revert to iOS16 until this is fixed?

100% This all the way. The sound is of a low frequency, and it's much more difficult to hear than Tri-Tone, weather it's technically the same volume or not, we must be able to change it to a custom sound , or at the very least have the option of re-enabling Tri-Tone vs rebound.

The options for changing notification sounds that are controllable through the operating system on your iPhone can be found in Settings > Sounds & Haptics. Use tones and ringtones with your iPhone or iPad

I'm not as old but I absolutely concur. I have spent years developing a custom sound scheme on my phone. I want the ability to set the sound used as the default tone, I do NOT want it set for me. Had I know about this "feature" of iOS 17, I would have ignore the update.

I am old and need the different tones to separate which app wants my attention. Also, because I don't hear as well as I used to, I need a tone that I can make loud enough to hear and one that lasts a length of time more than a nanosecond. I miss so many notifications that involve work and security. I love my iPhone 12 Pro Max and that my Mac, iPad, and Apple Watch are all integrated and work well together to get work done. But, if I don't hear distinct notifications on the phone or the watch, the whole Apple ecosystem becomes a black hole where ones and zeros die.

I understand with iOS 17.2 users can now change the default notification tone, but it would be great if we can pick sounds depending on the app so we can truly customise the phone. Having the same sound for every app notification is rather annoying, especially if you're with other people who all have iPhones and you don't know if its your phone that's going off or someone else's. Just please allow us to pick the sounds based on the app.

Likewise, no one here in this user-to-user forum would know why Apple does or does not do something. However, I'd guess all the complaints in this forum about the loudness of notifications sounds might have something to do with it.

IOS users there is a solution to better notifications - There is a free way to get receive a phone call when arlo is trigerred. This uses the IFTTT app ('if this then that' automation app) - took me 5 minutes to set up and it works great.

They have promised to add this feature to the IOS App for almost 2 years now. It used to be a problem with Apple and Emergency Override - but now it would be an easy addition of some code to their App.

And I have received at least four replies via support indicating it was being worked on and "coming soon." I have checked with support every 3-4 months for close to two years now and keep getting the same "promise." It is crazy that Arlo makes it impossible to distinguish between a prowler alert and just another text message.

At least iOS now has several options to bypass Do Not Disturb now. So I can turn phone off at night and still receive Emergency Notifications that I choose. But still the short default text tone that Arlo gives us is useless for waking us or letting us know it is from Arlo.

Here is just one topic almost 7 years old and 71 pages long requesting the ability to differentiate between a prowler and a regular text message on iOS. Along with requests for a louder/louder sound to awaken someone in an emergency. The issue with by-passing Do Not Disturb in emergency mode while sleeping was finally solved by Apple programing.

Ok - can't say they promised to absolutely do it by a specific date - but in support tickets (which I did not save), and if I remember correctly - reading in some public replies, they said they would submit it to their developers and try to integrate it in the future since it has been requested so often. And how they realized what an important addition it would be. Getting the identical response year after year is almost the same as breaking a promise.

But more importantly, there has never been a follow up explaining why the "developers" have not programed it into the App. From developers I have talked to, this is a fairly easy addition to any iOS App and lots of third party Apps offer unique or even several choices of notification tones. Just leaving the default test tone as the only sound is just lazy or cheap.

There needs to be an option to choose a different notification sound within the Arlo app on devices that operate within the iOS system. From what I have read this is an option for those who use Android-based systems. When my device goes into do not disturb each evening the default notification does not suffice! We need the option to choose a notification sound that will let us know there is something going on that needs our attention. This may seem trivial to some but I would think this should be a high priority level for Arlo developers. Thank you for your understanding and consideration.

It is ridiculous that Arlo still has not addressed the problem with not being able to change to a unique push notification sound on an IPhone. I need a unique alarm sound to alert me if someone is prowling around my house at night. Please address this immediately.

This is unacceptable in my opinion that Arlo released a new update and did not address the notification sound issue for IOS users. I for one will make certain I post about this in all of the Arlo reviews so that IOS users will think twice before purchasing Arlo. They have had complaints for years and have not resolved this. Maybe their sales need to hurt them

I am a senior citizen and purchased these cameras three years ago for security. I am living alone, and I cannot believe that Ila would upgrade and not let me know that the notifications will not work with an iOS iPhone, since the upgrade! Shame on you.

Thank you for your work around for the lack of custom sounds on IOS. I used it and it works flawlessly. I used a previous workaround involving converting the e mail notification to a text where you can select a custom sound. Your solution is simpler and the response time is faster. However the recent EOL announcement by ARLO includes an EOL date for e mail notifications of 4-1-23. Unless someone can think of something else this precludes any chance of a custom sound for IOS.

As many posts have said, the lack of a custom sound makes the whole ARLO system useless and to me dangerous as a personal guardian while sleeping or distracted. This issue has been out there for years and apparently ARLO does not care about the 50% of potential customers that own Apple products.

Very very sad that I can't have a custom notification sound from the Arlo app. Without it, knowing that someone is at my front door is just like any other notification sound and defeats the whole point of having this technology.

For personalized support specific to the Arlo products you own, access Support from within the Arlo iOS or Android App. Simply login to your Arlo App, go to Settings, Support, then select the Arlo product you would like support for.

Since ios17 was introduced the notifications of the arlo app are hardly audible because apple has changed the default sound of notifications to one with a much lower volume. This makes it impossible to hear notifications while sleeping when people trespass our property. Arlo : when will you build in a custom sound possibility for notifications.

They have, you need to update your apple device to IOS 17.2 the then on your device go to settings, sounds, default settings then choose the sound you want to use for arlo, also make sure on your arlo app you have chosen default OS tone.

I have searched the community on this website and have found NOTHING that works in terms of changing the Arlo motion notification sound on my iPhone. The option is simply not there. I have a 6-month old iPhone 14Pro and iOS is up to date. My dogs go nuts every time they hear this noise as the associate it with motion caused by: the mailman, UPS, neighbors, and even the neighbor's cat at 2am. 152ee80cbc
