If you want to see what an email is about but not open it completely, you can preview it. In the inbox, touch and hold an email to preview its contents and see a list of options for replying, filing it, and more. See Perform quick actions on iPhone.

To clarify, you have a red badge over the Mail app indicating there is an unread email? Or do you have an email notification banner like you'd typically see in the Notification Center or an actual email superimposed over the bottom part of your iPhone display.

For me, it appears as though there is an email draft being held at the bottom of the screen (as occurs normally), but when I press on the email my mail app closes. My problem began as I tried to send an email to a non-existent email address and now the undeliverable email is stuck down there. It doesn't show up in drafts and I've tried quitting and restarting the app and my phone several times and it isn't going away.

How do I get rid is this? I have tried creating another email and saving as a draft then opening my saved drafts and the one below is not there. If I tap the email then the email app closes. Please help me get this off my screen.

When I went to update my apps it asked me to log into the App Store and now, out of nowhere, shows an old email address of mine that was NEVER associated with the App Store or my Apple account. If I go under settings, both the App Store and iCloud show me logged in with the correct email address (my @me.com address) and not the old address. Here is what I have attempted so far...

This is quite frustrating as I've only had this particular iPhone for several months, I can't update my apps, and as I said before, the old email address was NEVER connected to the App Store or my Apple Account.

I am having the same issue after upgrading to iOS 11. Haven't figured out a fix yet. The email address that shows up in the new app store is one that my wife used in college - 10 years ago. I've never had anything to do with that address.

The Apple ID used to buy an app is the only Apple ID that can update the app. The Apple ID is encoded into the licensed copy of the app on your phone. If this email address was never associated with an Apple ID it would not be showing up in conjunction with an update.

Well then, there is a huge problem because my old address was never used for the App Store. I've been updating my apps with my @me.com since I bought my first iPhone. Closest my old address was involved was when I had my first iPhone set up to check two email accounts until my frequent contacts started using my new email address, then I deleted the second email account. But the old address was never part of the App Store.

I just upgraded my iPhone to the 11 Pro Max, and I'm unable to email photos to myself, like I've always done on my 7+. I go to the photo I want and tap the blue up arrow > mail > to > send > actual size > and off it goes. Only I never receive the email at any of my email accounts (yahoo, aol, mail.com). How do I fix this? Thanks!

Yes, I've checked my spam folders, and my email addresses (all three of them) are correct. I haven't received anything saying the messages failed to send. Everything looks normal, only I don't receive the emails.

id still recommend the cloud storage if you are sending photos from your iphone to your windows PC. apps like google photos allow you to access your whole library or photos on the web: you can view edit and download them. it also uploads automatically so your photos are always up to date. id suggest checking it out.

I found a workaround for now. The emails were being sent to my Outbox (which is different than Sent). If I open one and send from there, I receive it in my inbox. It's an extra step, but at least it works.

Very frustrating, but I think I figured it out with mine. I think the issue is when the phone goes to silent with the email open, either from hitting the side (silent) button or after the phone being inactive for a few seconds. Then, when you power up and navigate back to the inbox, even if you close the app, the email will be opened after you re-open mail. To fix, I navigated back to my inbox and without closing the app, I pressed the side (silent) button and then went back in. Now mail opens the inbox whenever I open mail and not that email. It looks like it always defaults to the last screen that was open if the app was open when the phone last went silent.

You mentioned that the Mail app is opening to the last read email, and is stuck. Does the Mail app become unresponsive, or is the issue only with the previously read email opening when returning to the Mail app? If the Mail app becomes unresponsive the following article mail help with resolving the issue. There is a step that walks through uninstalling, and reinstalling the application. When doing this step this does not sign you out of the email accounts as those would remain within the Settings, and all in-app data should return to the Mail app.

If you continue to have issues after completing those steps, or you're having a different issue such as the last read email reopening upon returning to Mail the next step would be to reach out to Apple. Their contact details can be found via the Get Support website.

We appreciate the clarification upon the issue as well. With the iPhone remaining unresponsive, the steps in the article above may still help with resolving the issue you're facing. If the issue continues, reaching out to Apple is the appropriate next step as it should return to the last page you were on whether that be an email, or a specific mailbox.

Ok, then you could try disabling location services all together, reset your phone, and then when you turn them back on, re-enable them. Also, you may need to login via a computer to you email and check your actuall email settings. When using your iphone, you are able to make these kinds of changes by setting up your location services, but you will need to log in and turn them off.

I just upgraded my iMac from Mojave to Monterey a few days ago. Since then I've been noticing an issue with emails viewed and deleted from my iPhone 11. I check email during the day at work using my iPhone and delete what I don't need, then empty the trash. If I go back in and check email on my phone later in the afternoon, those emails I deleted are gone. When I get home that evening and check email on my iMac all of those emails I had viewed and deleted on my iPhone earlier in the day show up on my iMac! Very frustrating. This wasn't happening when I was using Mojave. I have mail set up as IMAP on both the iMac and the iPhone 11. Any idea why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?

One other issue I've been noticing the past few days, on my iMac, when I'm deleting several emails I've either already viewed or it's junk and don't need (For example 10 emails), there will be a progress bar at the bottom showing it's moving email 5 of 10, 6 of 10 and so forth as I'm deleting the emails. This progress bar seems to move slowly, even though the emails have been moved from my inbox into the trash. Never seemed to have this with Mojave that I recall. Seems like if I delete an email, it's instantly moved to the trash, not sure why the progress bar is indicating it's taking longer. I've tried to rebuild all of my mailboxes, but hasn't seemed to really help.

Just wanted to give an update on this. I decided to delete the email account on my iPhone and then re-add it back in, to see if that made a difference. It seems to have help a lot, but not perfectly. For the most part, most of the emails I get while on my iPhone and then delete, are no longer showing up on my iMac when I get home. There have been a few here and there that will still show up even though I deleted them while on my iPhone. I don't seem to have any issues at all when I view email on my iPhone when I'm at home, and then check email on my iMac later. The issues seem to be mostly when I'm checking email on my iPhone when I'm not at home, and then come home and check email on the iMac. Then I seem to have some email that was deleted on the phone showing up on the iMac. But deleting my email account on the phone and then re-adding it back in has helped quite a bit. Still a bit frustrating that it's not syncing like it should and don't know why it's not.

I went into my iMac mail and did a sync. That hasn't resolved anything. I also went on my iPhone and went into my email account, advanced and for "Deleted Mailbox", I changed it from the "on the server" trash, to the "On my iPhone" trash, thinking that would help resolve it. It hasn't. I just got home a short while ago, and all the emails I looked at while at work and deleted and then emptied the trash are there now on my iMac when I just launched email!!! **** It!!!! I'm wondering if on my iPhone, email account, advanced, where it says "Deleted Messages", I have selected "After one Day", if that's why they aren't completely gone and appear on my iMac? On my iMac, in Mail, Preferences, under my email account, it gives the option to "Erase deleted messages" "When Quitting Mail" which is what I have it set to. If I had that option on the iPhone, which I'm not sure why it's not an option (It has Never, After one day, one week, and one month), maybe that would resolve it?? ff782bc1db
