The conference will be held at the Anfiteatro Abreu Faro, located at the Complexo Interdisciplinar (Building 26 on the campus map).

Travel

Airport connection

One of the best ways to get around Lisbon is by Metro (underground), see below. It works from 6.30 a.m. to 1.00 a.m. There is a direct Metro line connecting the Lisbon airport (Aeroporto station) to the city center (red line - linha vermelha).  The airport is very close to the city: the distance to IST is around 5km, so a Taxi or Uber is also very convenient and relatively cheap, usually not more than around €10 except during peak times.

In case you arrive at Porto Airport, there are regular train and coach connections between Porto and Lisbon. The main train and coach station in Porto is Porto Campanhã

Train and coach stations

The main train station in Lisbon is Gare do Oriente which is connected to the city center and IST both via bus and via Metro (red line). 

The main coach stations are the terminal close to Gare do Oriente and the terminal placed in Sete Rios. The first is connected very well to the center via the Metro (red line), and the second one is close to the Metro station Jardim Zoologico (blue line).

How to reach the venue

By metro

The closest Metro stations to Instituto Superior Técnico (5-10 minute walk) are Alameda (red and green lines) and Saldanha (red and yellow lines). 

Getting around

Downtown Lisbon is easily reachable by Metro from both Alameda and Saldanha stations (exit at either Rossio or Baixa/Chiado). There are also many bus lines connecting the city.

Tickets: You can opt for contactless payment with your bank card. You can also buy tickets for the metro and other Lisbon transports at the vending machines in metro stations.

Alcântara - Belém - Terreiro do Paço - Santa Apolónia - Alcântara

Recommended:

1) Comfortable shoes, sunscreen and good spirits!.

2) Bring warm clothes just in case

3) Make sure to have lunch before the boat ride.

How to get there?

Public transport or Uber/taxi are good options.

We plan to depart from the conference venue at 13:15, and many of us will go by public transport. There are many restaurants near the docks where we can spread and have lunch.

You can follow one of the organizers, or locals from Lisbon.

By public transport:

Step 1 - Take the green metro line "linha verde" until the "Cais do Sodré" station;

Step 2 - take a tram from "Cais do Sodré" to the "Cais Rocha" station.

If you go by yourself, please be sure to get to the boat dock with enough time.  

We encourage you to get there quickly from técnico and eat something in the area, since there are plenty of options there.

The public transport can take about 45 minutes (possibly + some minutes to get tickets)

If you come by car, note that all the parking spots near the dock are paid.
