I love blending two images to create something uniquely expressive. Here, I used a created image of a girl with a painting of an interior, using the blending capabilities of iColorama. I used settings in the blending process that allowed me to achieve an effect where the girl is only partially present, sort of like a ghost from the past, which is why I called this image Remembrance.
I started with this image I made previously. You can see the steps to make this image here.
I used this Rijksmuseum image as the "room." The Rijksmuseum website provides high-resolution images free to use and modify for any purpose, in their Rijksstudio.
In iColorama, I used Effect/Blend to blend the room onto the girl. I moved and resized the top image to get the composition I wanted. I tried different blending modes, and I used the gray slider in the Set panel to reveal only the parts of the girl image, so that I didn't need to do any masking.
In iColorama, I blended back in a bit of the girl's right eye in normal mode at medium opacity, using an inverted brush mask.
For finishing touches, I improved color, tone and sharpness. I also cropped.
